Activities in Waterland
Zuiderwoude is an oasis of tranquility. There are many attractive hiking possibilities; a visit to Teagarden ’t Einde is a definit highlight.
Our village lies in the centre of the Waterland-Oost nature area. A part of a large peat meadow landscape with special grasses and flowers. The area is also known for its bird wildlife. Every spring among others the black-tailed godwit, the lapwing and the harrier come to breed. The nests are protected by the Agrarian Nature Preserve Waterland.
Zuiderwoude is by all means an excellent starting point for hikes and bicycle tours to the surrounding picturesque villages and cities of Waterland.
Our house is located directly on the LAW 2 (‘Trekvogelpad’) and the LAW 8 (‘Zuiderzee’ hiking trail) .
The ‘Zuiderzee’ cycling route (LF 21, 400 km), the ‘Aeën en Dieën’ route and the ‘Rondom Watergang’ route also call on Zuiderwoude. There are extensive bicycle trails in the surrounding area (bicycle trail networks).
Bicycle rental is optional.
On the water
From our garden you can launch a canoe or the rowing boat and start off on one of the different routes that take you through Waterland as it is meant to be: on the water.
We have canoes and a rowing boat with outboard motor for rent.
